Abstract
A frequency-invariant beamformer (FIB) that uses a reduced number of adaptive coefficients is described. A beam space extension of a previously proposed uniform linear array FIB is used in the design procedure that is analogous to the frequency sampling method in filter design. Simulations show similar synthesis performance between the conventional and proposed FIB, with the latter offering reduced complexity in adaptive applications
