Abstract
In recent years radio-frequency (RF) transponders and electronic data tags have been used as a form of distributed memory in a wide range of automated systems. The article examines the advantages and disadvantages of using RF transponders in this way and, based on two application examples, outlines the selection criteria which must be considered in choosing the correct transponder data tag
