Abstract :
The author would like to bring to readers´ attention some opportunities for funding that our Society is making available to all its members. Soon the call of the next edition of the CASS Outreach Initiative will be open and available online. Outreach is a funding scheme through which individual members of the Society, Chapters or Technical Committees can apply for funding to support different types of initiatives to take place next year between January and December 2013. This year the deadline for application will be in early November and soon the call will be available on the new Financial Activities page of our Society website that can be reached at http://ieee-cas.org/about/ financial-activities. There you will be able to find more information and in a few days reports from all initiatives that were funded under the Outreach 2012 initiative and are happening this year. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone and particularly the younger members of our vibrant community to propose initiatives and apply for funding. Another way through which our Board of Governors has been supporting members initiatives is through the Call for Surplus Proposals that is issued every year if funds are made available from IEEE on the basis of our previous year budget surplus. I am proud to say that over the past two years an additional US$150,000 were channeled to support further initiatives from Chapters, Technical Committees and individual members.
