The Distinguished Achievement Award was established in 1985 to recognize outstanding technical achievement and meritorious service to the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. The 2012 Award was presented to Constantine A. Balanis "For contributions to electromagnetics through excellence in book authorship, inspiring and trailblazing teaching, and diversified research." a brief biography of the author is provided.
