Abstract
COMCAN, a computer code for common-cause analysis, is described in terms of required and optional inputs and the various printout options available to the user. The program is written in FORTRAN IV for both the IBM 360/75 and CDC-7600 computers. COMCAN uses fault-tree minimal cut-sets as input for location of single generic secondary events which can cause system failure. Thus, there is no addition of secondary events to the original logic model. The generic classification of secondary events, used by COMCAN, aids in eliminating redundancies and omissions usual in the analysis of comnon-cause failures.
