Abstract :
Four models of 1-out-of-2:G systems are considered: 1) the system has s-dependent and dissimilar units, 2) two types of failures, 3 & 4) include various types of switch failures. In all models, failure-time distributions of operative/standby units are exponential whereas repair-time distributions are general. Howard´s reward structure has been superimposed on the semi-Markov process generated by each model separately, and s-expected profit has been obtained. Model 4 is quite general and contains several earlier well-known models as special cases. The concepts of Transfer Switch and Connect Switch incorporated in model 4 are important design parameters and it may be worthwhile for system designers/engineers to examine the impact of these parameters on s-expected profit.
