Abstract
The steer-by-wire system in a passenger car used to enhance vehicle steering has been undergoing worldwide development. A new electronic rack and pinion steering system (SBW) along with Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is developed in this paper by using 1 DC motor and 2 sensors. A Hardware-in-the-loop steering system test rig which DC motor is attached into actual rack and pinion steering has been set up. Moreover, an ECU consists of microcontroller and H bridge motor driver is designed to support the system. The proposes PID controller is performed on electric steering system to compensate a conventional mechanical linkages. Based on position tracking experiment, it shows a hardware and electric circuit designed with proposed controller is effectively control the desired input for vehicle manoeuvre.
