Abstract
In steam distillation process, temperature is regarded as the most significant parameter that contributes to the amount of output yield and quality of oil. Recently, most of steam distillation system use open loop system to control temperature while is done manually by skilful operators. It is well known that open loop system is sensitive to the parameter variations and disturbances. The hybrid fuzzy PD plus PID was chosen to integrate to the plant induction based steam distillation system. In this study, the effect of number membership function is investigated to find the best controller performance. From the result, it shows that the increment of membership function will result the best rise time and root mean square error (RMSE). Otherwise, no improvement in term of settling time and percent overshoot.
