Abstract :
Renewable energy is not new in Malaysia but knowledge among the society is still very shallow, especially on solar photovoltaic. Hundreds of millions ringgit being spent by the government, either through subsidies such as SURIA 1000 project [1], Feed In Tariff or Projects by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, MOSTI, Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water or other agency demonstrate the importance of solar photovoltaic. This Knowledge Transfer Programme aimed to transfer knowledge focused on Photovoltaic Power System to the selected schools students, teachers and universities. As for the first stage, the complete programme had been done for 10s UiTM´s postgraduate students accredited with Malaysian Qualifications Agency, (MQA). The programme held for 6 months where the students being taught about the theoretical and practical sessions. The use of knowledge transfer then being evaluated through examination. The use of knowledge transfer is needed surrounds these student since there is lack of exposure about Photovoltaic. The expected outcome is the knowledge on solar photovoltaic among the participants will be increased. Malaysia is moving towards increasing use of renewable energy and with the introduction of feed in tariff, formation of Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), solar PV will obviously increase in penetration into the community. UiTM´s experience in monitoring more than 100 sites in Malaysia, experience to conduct test and commissioning, experiencing in training the ISP (Institute for Sustainable Power) which is internationally recognised will be in the best position to share the knowledge throughout the knowledge transfer programme.
