Abstract :
Two models are presented for a 2-unit standy system. Model 1 deals with a 2-unit warm-standby system with fault analysis. Model 2 is a cold-standby system with repair analysis. Failure time distributions are exponential; repair time, fault-analysis time, and repair-analysis time distributions are general. For both models, mean time-to-system-failure, mean number of visits to a state, steady-state availability, s-expected profit, and absorption probabilities are obtained by using semi-Markov processes.
