Abstract :
This paper presents a preventive control method lowering cascading outage risk in large-scale AC-DC interconnected power grids. The method consists of two steps. Firstly the possible cascading outages are simulated using fast dynamics of OPA model. Then, a cascading outage risk based security OPF (COR-SOPF) is proposed, which minimizes overall load power outage risk of cascading outages. In COR-SOPF model, the risk of cascading outage is estimated using the data obtained from cascading outage simulation and risk assessment. The risk in this model is load outage power, its physical meaning is clear. The preventive control can notably lower the cascading outage risk. Effectiveness and practicality are verified by IEEE-118 equivalent system and China provincial system cases.
