Abstract :
This paper presents the validation method and results of a second generation Type 3 generic wind turbine model for dynamic voltage regulation and reactive power control. A staged field test at the wind farm point of interconnection was conducted and the measured response is compared with the second generation generic model as well as the first generation generic model and the GE-specific model. The simulated response of each model closely matches the measured response, demonstrating that the Type 3 models provide a reasonable representation of actual performance.
