Abstract
We need vision and strategic oversight of investment in our national infrastructure. We need to consider the wider benefits of infrastructure investment, and the opportunity costs of not investing. We need some sight of distributed generation, and strategic governance of the distribution / transmission interface. We need appropriate triggers for timely grid investment and avoid excessive “non-firm” wastage of renewable resource. We need to develop the services offered to the networks.
