Abstract :
This paper discusses the birth, mission, goal and the nonprofit organizational structure of the Engineering World Health Organization. The EWH, by getting its feet on the ground and giving engineering students a chance to help shape sustainable medical aid to developing countries, creates memories, instills a sense of moral imagination, and imbues an altruistic ethic in its student participants, while also teaching people in developing countries to help address their own health technology needs. This approach to the idea of charity in the developing world is a unique one that attempts to erase hundreds of years of stereotypes and stigma placed on peoples living in the developing world. The EWH´s most significant and successful project, the Rwanda Program is also discussed.
