Abstract
Surveys control techniques that minimize both the occurrence and the duration of blackouts. The author considers circuit breaker configurations at the power station, electrical controls for synchronism loss, electrical controls after system separation, line reconnection after fault clearance, turbine controls, and steam-supply source controls.
