    This article deals with the principles of fuel-cell power-plant operation, the scope and status of a 4.8 MW fuel-cell demonstration program, the importance of the fuel cell´s features to electric utilities and their customers, and efforts to bring fuel-cell power-plant technology to commercial realization.
