Abstract :
DVB-T2, the revision of DVB-T (Terrestrial Digital Video Broadcasting), was recently finalised, being targeted to high definition television (HDTV). To pave the way to commercialisation, an appropriate implementation concept and its corresponding validation are of utmost importance. Without a doubt, the most challenging requirements introduced by the DVB-T2 specification are a fast Fourier transform size of up to 32 k samples, 256-QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) and low density parity check coding with a block size of 64 k bits. In this Letter, a software defined radio realisation concept is presented, comprising a combined digital signal processor and field programmable gate array solution, which is tailored to meet these requirements.
