Abstract
This article provides basic information on the nature of voltage flicker disturbances and discusses current and possible future compensation techniques. Thyristor-controlled static compensation systems have been around for some decades now, providing benefits to utility transmission systems and consumers alike. Details of some successful low-voltage compensator applications as a solution for system flicker disturbances are given.
