Abstract
A novel polarisation-independent phase modulator based on the electro-optic polymer P2ANS is proposed. The optical axis direction is controlled by utilising a 45°-off poling configuration for polarisation-independent operation. The proposed device consists of the two sections, the optical axes of which are orthogonal to each other. The measured Vx for both TE and TM modes is 70 V at 1.55 μm, which may be reduced by using a good electro-optic polymer.
