Abstract :
The long-term statistics of the carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) reduction expected on a rain-faded geostationary satellite link is evaluated using two successive nonlinear statistical transformations. The first caters for the impact of a dual countermeasure system based on up-link power control (ULPC) and site diversity (SDV) upon the joint fading statistics. The second transformation performs the mapping of the up- and down-link fades including countermeasures into a one-dimensional CNR reduction statistics as seen by the receiver.
