  • Abstract
    This paper uses the implementation of an On-Line Voltage Stability Monitor (VSM) to illustrate a coordinated exploitation of modern technologies and analytical techniques to implement some of the smart grid capabilities. VSM starts with a detailed network solution from a PMU-enhanced static State Estimator. The paper demonstrates how analyses based on detailed network models and highly reduced models can be used in a complementary fashion to realize the required computational accuracy and performance while leveraging the phasor measurements between successive State Estimator solutions.
