Politics of technology: National Professions Foundation: An idea whose time has come?: With U.S. leadership in technology and the professions declining and the very quality of life in jeopardy, an NPF is recommended to remedy the situation

A National Engineering Foundation within the Federal government was recently proposed by Bruno Weinschel, president of the Weinschel Engineering Co. in Gaithersburg, Md., to help increase innovation and productivity in the United States (Spectrum, February, pp. 58¿60). In this article, Allen B. Rosenstein proposes a different type of Federal agency ¿ a National Professions Foundation.
