Abstract :
A long cavity Fabry-Perot laser has been forced into pulsed operation with a repetition rate equal to its cavity resonant frequency (32.8GHz), by injecting short optical pulses at the fourth subharmonic (8.2 GHz). Pulse trains generated using this technique exhibit a high subharmonic suppression ratio (>17 dB), wide locking range (>500 MHz) and low levels of jitter (<0.4 ps)
