Abstract :
Continuous-wave operation of a double-clad Tm-doped silica fibre laser at 2 /spl mu/m pumped by two beam-shaped diode bars, yielded an output power of 14 W in a singlemode (M/sup 2/<1.1)beam for 36.5 W of launched pump power at 787 nm. The slope efficiency with respect to launched diode power was /spl sim/46%.
