  • Abstract
The US Air Force R&M 2000 Action Plan and related policies and procedures have elevated reliability and maintainability to be co-equal with performance, schedule, and cost. Elevation of the stature of R&M led Lockheed-Georgia Company to implement organizational changes in the R&M and supportability areas to increase their functional stature and to permit full advantage to be taken of the US Dept. of Defense increased emphasis on R&M. These changes are directed toward ``doubling the reliability´´ and halving the maintenance of products and, therefore, enhancing a competitive position.
