Abstract :
Experimental results are presented which show that in a fibre link with polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) the polarisation shift keying (PolSK) transmission format suffers from an excess sensitivity penalty due to signal depolarisation when compared with the intensity modulated format. The excess penalty is 3 dB when the PMD is 30% of the bit period
