Abstract :
For the problem of weak signal detection, the locally optimum test statistic for a known signal in independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) noise of probability density function f(·) is given. We show that the logistic distribution is the only example for which the locally-optimal nonlinearity has a uniform distribution
