Abstract :
A proactive fast handover strategy over 802.11 WLANs to reduce high delay and service disruption during handover has been designed and implemented. By issuing proactive scan and handover triggers, the strategy performs advance resource reservation on the target AP, to reduce delay and provide required QoS guarantee. The implementation and simulation study shows that the proposed strategy achieves magnitudes of latency, jitter and throughput improvements during the 802.11 handover operations.
