Abstract :
In this paper, we proposed a novel method for fast and easy channel-surfing on digital televisions. With this method, only two traditional channel-changing buttons are used, and the channel information is displayed by a tree structure based on a backward regress-able binary tree. The proposed binary tree enables quick surfing and capability for backward surfing that requires only two buttons. Experimental results show that the proposed method enables a user to navigate to a desired channel through just three flicks, when the number of popular channels is less than 30, regardless of the total number of channels. Therefore, the proposed method provides more convenient channel selection than previous methods.
