  • Abstract
This paper investigates the impact of HVDC transmission on Load Frequency Control (LFC) in interconnected power systems. The study considers a multi-area power system involving trilateral HVDC and HVAC ties. A three area LFC perturbation model is developed, and then extended to a general model of the south Mediterranean interconnected power system. Various HVDC and HVAC link scenarios are tested for loss of generation disturbances. The results are compared in terms of dynamic performance and system security.
