Abstract :
In a permanent magnet synchronous motor, where inductances vary as a function of rotor angle, 2D steady-state finite element analysis is commonly used for simplicity and intuition. The purpose of this paper is to predict the properties of a three phase synchronous inset permanent magnet motor. Moreover, the paper suggests a method of dynamic modeling, taking rotational geometry movement into account, used to calculate the electromagnetic fields. In this case, a meshing strategy considering the rotor movement is developed. An optimization of the machine´s characteristics was done. The machine performances in terms of air gap flux density and torque production capability has been investigated. At the end, the iron losses are evaluated.
