Abstract :
Electric field periodic poling of 3 mm thick stoichiometric lithium niobate is reported for the first time. The appropriate poling field strength was found to be as low as 200 V/mm, two orders of magnitude lower than in congruent material, and 20 times lower than in previously published results obtained with near-stoichiometric crystals
