Abstract :
A polarisation-insensitive semiconductor arrayed waveguide grating integrated with a spotsize converter has been fabricated which features a low loss of 7 dB and a low polarisation-dependent loss of 0.2 dB on average when coupled to a flat-ended fibre. The channel crosstalk is lower than 27 dB for all channels, and the misalignment tolerance is increased to ±2 μm
