Abstract :
The head is ready and the heart is willing to replace a vital section of an ageing electrical system housed in the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The trouble is, one could find the part. The author encounters a major problem of equipment refurbishment. The ISIS neutron and muon source at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire is a world-leading centre for research in the physical and life sciences. As part of the facilities upgrade and refurbishment programme, the lMJstorage choke, which forms part of the main magnet power supply system, will be replaced with a number of smaller units.
