Abstract
This paper proposes a new online coordination method for plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) charging in smart distribution networks. The proposed method aims to optimally charge the PEVs in order to maximize the utility profit and minimize the PEVs charging costs based on real-time energy pricing signal. The proposed method takes into consideration the impacts of the future charging decisions and the normal load profile on the current charging decisions, which leads to improved utilization of the power system resources without violating the grid technical constraints. Simulation results on a typical distribution network are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed architecture, where PEVs owners´ satisfaction is examined at different loading levels.
