Abstract :
Researchers in Sweden and China have used silicon nanowire technology to fabricate a planar grating demultiplexer for optical networks and communications. Their device has several advantages, from high integration density and finesse (suggesting high spectral resolution), to low crosstalk and the convenience of integration with existing silicon electronics.
