Abstract :
This paper presents a novel off-grid wind power generator system that consists of a permanent magnet (PM) generator, two rectifiers, a battery, and loads. The PM generator has a novel stator structure and two Y-connected winding sets. The wind power generator system can automatically track the maximum power from wind without the need for converters and control circuits, and has higher reliability and lower loss. This paper also describes the operational principle and mathematical model of the system. A prototype is manufactured, and experiments prove that the new system efficiently captures maximum power from wind across a wide speed range.
