Abstract
A novel quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) recording method developed for channel coding of a digital VCR is reported. By using an improved coded 16 QAM method, a recording density as high as 0.95 μm/bit is accomplished by using a metal evaporated (ME) video tape. The magnetic head has a track-width of 5.7 μm
