To produce this annual remew of eiecirotechnoiogy. IEEE Spectrum´s editors called upon a broad range of experts ¿ some 120 in all. Ronald K. Jurgen, IEEE Specturm´s administrative editor and coordinator of The issue, began tlie process of contacting experts, many of them representatives of the IEEE´s own Technical Societies, about six months ago. The finished report iepresents an attempt io identify significant trends and to provide tixampies by citing specific hardware and/or software by name and manufactiirer wherever appropriate.
