  • Abstract
EUROCRYPT, a conditioning access system for broadband networks, is used in Europe on the cable and satellite networks in association with the MAC (multiplexed analog component) broadcasting standards. It offers all the commercial modes that have been identified for pay-TV, with additional functions. It is simple, safe, user-friendly, and able to evolve; entitlements are transmitted in the signal with a large capacity. Its implementation uses the PC2 smart card. It can be used with other broadcasting standards. Since it has been specified, in March 1989, it has become more successful, and it is hoped that it will become the reference system for enhanced and high-definition television systems
