Abstract
We notice a continuing schism among engineers concerning the application and control of military technology. Many believe that the engineering community has a special responsibility to instruct and inform the general populace about the potential impact of advanced military technology. Others, even some engaged in developing military systems, believe that ¿engineers should engineer¿ and that the use of military technology should be left up to our democratic political system. ¿We have no business interfering where we have no competence,¿ they assert.
