Abstract :
The use of advanced batteries by power companies and their customers for load leveling and peak shaving is discussed, and some current applications are described. The operation of some of these batteries, namely the zinc-chlorine, zinc-bromine, sodium-sulfur, and iron-chromium batteries, is then described.
