Abstract :
The authors describe a novel full-custom BiCMOS digital multichannel sound decoder for terrestrial television. The design includes an adjustment-free DQPSK (differential quadrature phase shift keying) demodulator, a NICAM decoder, a D-A (digital-to-analog) converter, a flexible audio matrix, and a low component count. This highly integrated NICAM decoder simplifies the implementation of dual-standard applications. The design, which is currently in two integrated circuits, has been made in a way which provides a direct route to a single chip solution
