Abstract
We present a method of optoelectronic logic that relies on the digital optical switch. The logic gate is reconfigurable to implement the Boolean operators and, or, and not. Multiple logic gates can be cascaded on a single optoelectronic integrated chip to achieve complex logical functionality. The optoelectronic logic scheme uses a high-speed high-power photodetector, combined with a high-speed traveling-wave modulator. As the system is designed without electronic amplifiers or electronic logic elements, the system bandwidth can exceed 10 GHz.
