Abstract :
A new PC-based method of overlaying live stereo video sequences on computer graphics is presented. Since the underlying computer graphics can also be stereo, stereo elements like a 3D-cursor can be mixed to the live video. For flicker reduction, video field rates can be doubled. The full spatial resolution of 576 lines is used for both channels. In addition, interpolated line doubling serves for quality enhancement and fine-structure suppression. Beside the overlaying of one stereo image, it is also possible to overlay two independent mono video images at the same time. Some medical and industrial applications are described
