Abstract :
Flats comprising Au24Ag6Cu alloy and electroplated palladium were nitrogen implanted to a dosage of 2×1017 ions-cm-2 to determine the effects of this treatment on friction and sliding wear behavior. Experiments were conducted using a reciprocating rider-on-flat apparatus in which the hemispherical countersurface consisted of electroplated cobalt gold. The applied load was 100 gmf with an amplitude of sliding of 0.5 cm. The N2+ implantation of the Au24Ag6Cu and the electroplated palladium produced a transition from the severe adhesive process of prow formation
