Abstract :
A new, yet simple method for fabricating high-quality bandpass filters is proposed. Utilising the CO2 laser irradiation along the linearly chirped fibre Bragg grating, a D-shaped structure is engraved and a bandpass filter with nearly 100% transmissivity, >0.6 nm 3 dB bandwidth, <0.1 dB flat-top ripple and >71 dB/nm slope at 3 dB amplitude response is obtained.
