  • Abstract
We have done extensive experiments with dense (25-GHz channel spacing) high speed, (individual channel rates of 2.5 and 5.0 GB/s) soliton WDM over transoceanic distances. The experiments were performed in a loop 1400 to 2400 km in length with a 45 km amplifier span. We report error-free transmission of 8 2.5-GB/s channels at 10.0 Mm without filters and at 16.8 Mm with guiding filters. Twelve 2.5 GB/s channels were transmitted error free a distance of 7.2 Mm. Finally, eight 5.0 Gb/s channels were transmitted, error-free distance, with guiding filters, a distance of 9.8 Mm.
