Abstract
The objectives, development, and operation of the La Grade hydroelectric power plant are discussed. Three powerhouses, 200 dikes, and a vast flooded area near James Bay, Quebec, Canada, produce more electricity than any other hydroelectric complex in North America. The existing and future plans for the plant are examined, and its impact on the region is discussed. The control system for the plant, which requires only one operator, is described.
