Abstract :
In this paper, a scheduling algorithm which allocates resources based on the QoE (Quality of Experience) of users for streaming video applications has been proposed. The proposed algorithm, referred to as Delay Constrained Proportional Fairness (DCPF), minimizes the inter-frame delay for a streaming video application by prioritizing users based on the difference between the delay of the head of the line packet and the average delay experienced by the user. It is observed that the proposed algorithm reduces inter-frame delay. The performance evaluation has been carried out on NS-3 over an LTE network using the Evalvid video evaluation tool. The algorithm has been tested for different mobility scenarios for videos with varying user speeds. It is seen that the proposed algorithm provides up to 23% reduction in the video frame delay when compared to the existing Proportional Fairness (PF) algorithm.
